How to Spend As Little Time As Possible On Your Blog

I will admit that I shuddered a bit as I typed the title to this article: "." The reason I shuddered is that I don't want anyone to think that you can do a sloppy job blogging, and still have a successful blog. I also don't want to imply that blogging is easy, or a good thing for a lazy person to do.

However, it is possible for people to spend WAY too much time on their blog to the degree that it takes over their lives, and to a degree that is not only unhealthy, but unprofitable as well.

So here are two of my favorite tips for spending as little time as possible on your blog, while maintaining quality and publishing blog posts consistently.

1. Use a timer when writing your blog posts.

Only you can determine how much time you REALLY need to write an article, but setting a timer and trying to get the blog post written before the timer goes off is one way to increase your blogging speed.

At first, I'd start with 1-hour. Try to write a blog post in an hour, and see how it goes. Do your best to get it completely done in that time. If you find you can't, then increase that to 1 hour and 15 minutes and really work at getting your articles done in that time.

Once you get to where you can crank out blog posts in an hour, try decreasing the time to 45 minutes, and once that becomes easy, decrease it to 30 minutes.

Obviously, there will be exceptions where you need to write longer articles or articles that require more research, a lot of photos and so on, but you should be able to get your blog posts down to about 30 minutes or so.

2. Invest in a good stock photo account.

It's important to use at least one photo in your blog post, and you can end up spending a ton of time looking for photos, especially if you are trying to go the free photo option. Though I'm all for free, I've found that it's worth my membership to a stock photo account that allows me to download as many photos as I want while my subscription is active.

Even if you have to pay a couple of dollars per photo, your time is worth it. I've found that paying for photos saves me enough time to make the small investment worth it.
