Add Google AdSense to Your Blog

ByMike Howg

If you have a blog or are planning to start a blog then you should know about how Google AdSense can help you earn some extra cash. Once you decide to monetize your blog, Google AdSense should be the first thing that you add. It has the potential to bring in a decent amount of money and should be top priority once you get your blog up and running. There are plenty of other monetization methods but right now I'm only going to be covering AdSense.

What's AdSense?

AdSense is a way to display targeted ads on your website. The content of the ads should mostly be relevant to what kind of content you have on your blog. This kind of advertising is more likely to get people to click on the ads since it will be of interest to your target audience.

You will get a small amount of money when someone clicks on one of your AdSense ads which can quickly add up depending on the amount of visitors your blog gets. It's not a new concept and has been around for years but now Google has decided to get in on the action. Most people refer to this advertising method as PPC, or Pay-Per-Click. It really is a simple concept that can help you make extra income from your blog.

Signing up for AdSense is completely free and Google will never charge you a thing to be a part of it. You will also have access to detailed reports through your AdSense account so that you know how much you've earned so far, how many people have clicked, how many times an ad has displayed, and much more.
Anything else I should know?

There are some rules that you need to follow if you don't want to be banned. Google can be very strict and they actually have people review your site to make sure you follow those rules.

The most important one is that you can only display a specified amount of ads on a single page of your website. You will be able to find out how many are allowed by reading through Google's rules on the AdSense website.

Another very important thing to remember is to not try and artificially boost your own ad clicks. This means no clicking on your own ads or asking other people to click on your ads. Also, don't try and use any kind of program to manipulate the system. Doing so will get you quickly banned.

Google also requires that you have original content on your website. You can't just have links to other sites' content or have a page loaded with only advertisements. This will be considered spam and is a definite rule-breaker.

When you first sign up for AdSense you need to take your time and read everything thoroughly. Don't try and rush to get some ads on your blog thinking that you will get rich overnight. Just take your time and read over all the guidelines so that you know you aren't breaking any rules.

Now what?

Now that you've read through this article you should have a good idea of what AdSense is about. You should be ready to sign up for your own account to start earning some extra cash for all that time and effort you've put into your blog. If you follow the rules and experiment with your ads to find what works best then there should be some good money to be made.
